Function
This series of electric pump has a self priming feature, specific type of water pump designed to have the required liquid inside the cavity or body necessary to start the suction process. This offers the potential for increased operating efficiencies in industries where pumps are used for a variety of repeated yet intermittent operations.
The pump need fluid in the casing to get started. Dry run even for a short while, can cause damage to the mechanical seal, and even pump failure. Once the pump is turned on successfully, the impeller begins to turn in a counter clockwise rotation.
Self Priming pumps must be capable of evacuating air from the suction line, thereby drawing liquid into the pump. When this has been achieved, the pump can revert to its normal pumping mode.
